I’ve Been Watching A Lot of Oprah Lately…

…which has both fed my mind and made me even more discontent than before. I was watching an interview she gave to the COO of Facebook which aired on OWN last night and I couldn’t help but have my own personal little “Ah ha” moment. Oprah was talking about the point where she finally decided to start her own network. She said she asked herself, “What would you do if you weren’t afraid?” So then I asked myself, what would you do if you weren’t afraid? I would write. Though I enjoy writing my blog, Facebook status updates, silly texts and notes; it’s not what I want. I want to write fiction. I want to get lost in my characters. I spend so much of my day imagining scenarios for everyone around me that sometimes I forget that my made-up world isn’t their reality at all.
So, what would you do if you weren’t afraid? Would you bake cakes all day? Would you become a pilot? A lawyer? A doctor? A teacher? What would you do, if you weren’t afraid?

Bitting Off More than I Can Chew?

We’ve all felt this way. Let’s review. I work full-time as a cubicle droid from 8-4 Monday through Friday, then I tutor Monday through Wednesday until about 7:15. I occasionally throw in gym appearances and a social life to round it all out. I have recently added Intercultural Relationship writer for the Examiner.com to my list of ongoing pursuits. Now this would be my third job. Though lets face it. When you like what you do then it’s not really a job right? Wrong, it’s just a job that you don’t mind putting a little more effort into.
So this takes up quite a bit of time. Oh wait…I have a few more hours in the day! I should take a writing class twice a week also! Brilliant! Its like research right? HA!
If you find this post a little harried you now know why.
I’m nervous and excited about the new additions to my week so if you are curious about my mental stability; drop me an email, Facebook poke, snail mail, or any other form of communication you find appropriate. Hurray its Thursday!

Random Friday: Oh the Fun We’ll Have

I can’t even begin to express how happy I am that it is Friday. Its been another rough one in the land of cubicles and I am more than ready for a little R&R.
Sometimes while I sit in my little cubicle surrounded by more cubicles I can’t help but day-dream about being somewhere else. Somewhere warm, or beautiful or fun. Instead I see the reflection off of the mustard colored walls reflect off my computer screen and wonder how the heck I got here.
So I choose today dream instead. I dream of doing on a nature walk with Boyfriend. We’ve packed a picnic and are strolling and talking and just…being. So today, I choose my mental nature walk instead of copy and pasting all day.
I hope you all have the opportunity to go out and do something wonderful this weekend. Even if it’s as simple of staying in and making soup. Enjoy your time and make it your own. Happy weekend everyone.

Mean

I’ve been listening to my new Taylor Swift CD, yes I am aware that I am not a 12-year-old girl, but I like it and I feel that its kind of impairing. Anyway, I have this song stuck in my head about mean people and it kind of calls them out for their general ickiness. I know some people who should really listen to the lyrics and do some soul-searching but that’s for them and this song makes me smile. Especially when I turn it up and sing along. So below are the lyrics and I hope they brighten up your day and get you through a tough one.

“Mean” by Taylor Swift

You, with your words like knives
And swords and weapons that you use against me,
You, have knocked me off my feet again,
Got me feeling like I’m nothing.
You, with your voice like nails on a chalkboard
Calling me out when I’m wounded.
You, pickin’ on the weaker man.

Well you can take me down,
With just one single blow.
But you don’t know, what you don’t know,

Someday, I’ll be living in a big old city,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean.
Someday, I’ll be big enough so you can’t hit me,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean.
Why you gotta be so mean?

You, with your switching sides,
And your walk by lies and your humiliation
You, have pointed out my flaws again,
As if I don’t already see them.
I walk with my head down,
Trying to block you out cause I’ll never impress you
I just wanna feel okay again.

I bet you got pushed around,
Somebody made you cold,
But the cycle ends right now,
You can’t lead me down that road,
You don’t know, what you don’t know

Someday, I’ll be, living in a big old city,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean.
Someday, I’ll be big enough so you can’t hit me,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean.
Why you gotta be so mean?

And I can see you years from now in a bar,
Talking over a football game,
With that same big loud opinion but,
Nobody’s listening,
Washed up and ranting about the same old bitter things,
Drunk and grumbling on about how I can’t sing.

But all you are is mean,
All you are is mean.
And a liar, and pathetic, and alone in life,
And mean, and mean, and mean, and mean

But someday, I’ll be, living in a big old city,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean. Yeah,
Someday, I’ll be big enough so you can’t hit me,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean.
Why you gotta be so ?
Someday, I’ll be, living in a big old city,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean. Yeah,
Someday, I’ll be big enough so you can’t hit me,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean.
Why you gotta be so mean?
